What Does the Volvo New Car Warranty Cover?
New Volvo vehicles come with a great manufacturer's warranty to cover the powertrain, hybrid model batteries, safety systems, and bumper-to-bumper protection for repairs, replacements, parts, and labor for any mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing defects. Coverage includes a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain and a limited warranty.
For the Volvo lineup of Recharge hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles-XC40, XC60, XC90 SUVs, S60 and S90 sedans, and the V60 wagon-the new car warranty will cover the hybrid lithium-ion battery and all the major hybrid model driveline parts for eight-years or 100,000 miles.
You'll also benefit from a 12-year/unlimited-mile corrosion warranty that will replace any sheet-metal parts with rust damage that results in excessive degradation or holes, but this is a rare occurrence. It's important to note this doesn't cover rust that forms due to a lack of cleaning or maintenance.

Volvo Lifetime Parts & Labor Warranty
Starting June 1, 2015, Volvo Cars launched the Lifetime Parts and Labor Warranty for all qualified purchases for parts installed at an authorized Volvo dealership. The new lifetime warranty provides customers with peace of mind knowing they're getting genuine parts from Volvo that will last for years and won't cost more money to fix or replace down the road.
While new Volvo vehicles do have great coverage for all components and features, the lifetime coverage does not include excessive wear for accessories or consumable parts, including but not limited to the following:
- Car battery or key fob batteries
- Belts and Timers
- Spark Plugs
- Filters
- Brake Pads and Rotors (excluding runout)
- Windshield-Wiper blades
- Clutch Lining
- Floor Mats, Upholstery, and Rugs
- Tires (please refer to the Tire Manufacturer's warranty)
The Lifetime Parts & Labor Warranty does not apply to third-party purchasers such as independent parts sellers, repair shops, or body shops. It also does not cover any parts purchased over the counter that aren't installed by an authorized Volvo dealership. The warranty on these parts will be two years from the purchase date for defects for the part replacement only and will not include labor costs. The Volvo Parts Warranty will not cover failures resulting from installation errors.
